Country Style Pork Ribs

Grilling Country Style Pork Ribs. Cooked them first in the Instant Pot 40 minutes, way overdone, fall off the bone tender.  Epic Fail.

The sauce is Arthur Bryant (claims to have invented burnt ends) Original Kansas City Style BBQ Sauce, augmented with spicy brown mustard, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, pomegranate juice, honey, Penzey's Mural of Flavor salt-free seasoning.

The best tasting country style ribs I have ever made, but the texture is terrible.

Citrus Peels

https://www.epicurious.com/the-smart-cook/freeze-every-citrus-peel-article

Although Josh, ex-Brothers Green Eats, currently You Enjoy Life on YouTube, tells me that if I compost it, it is never wasted.

More Pan Fried Steak

Pan Fried Steak

Blue Cheese Marble

Blue Cheese Marble (Monterey Jack with Blue Cheese Flavor) from North Country Cheese in Almena, Wisconsin.  Not as rich and creamy as a blue cheese from Denmark, firmer in texture, milder in flavor.  Very good cheese.

Mirin

https://www.bonappetit.com/story/what-is-mirin-how-to-substitute

I feel like I should be using mirin in my cooking.  Like I am missing something by not using it.

I love teriyaki but never make it myself.  Again, I feel like I am missing something important.

Shoyu Chicken

https://www.bonappetit.com/story/simple-shoyu-chicken-recipe

This looks good, and I definitely want to try it.

Or, I want to show you some chicken.

Pickle Sandwich

 https://food52.com/recipes/85546-pickle-sandwich-recipe

Homemade dill pickles on homemade bread. It don't get no better than that.

I am not a fan of the flavor of Frank's Hot Sauce, but there is a plethora of good craft hot sauces to choose from.

Garlic

Garlic pan fried in avocado oil.

Pairs well with Brussels sprouts.

There will not be any vampires hanging around this house.

Sausage

Johnsonville Original Recipe breakfast sausage.

Pairs well with Brussels sprouts, and provides plenty of sodium.

Brussels Sprouts

Oven roasted Brussels sprouts.

One of the Food Network chefs recommends that they should be as salty as French fries.

I do not do that because I get plenty of sodium from other foods.

Banana Ketchup

https://www.seriouseats.com/recipes/2013/02/banana-ketchup-recipe.html

The next time you have extra ripe bananas, make banana ketchup instead of banana bread.

Duck Fat Ice Cream

 https://www.seriouseats.com/recipes/2011/03/duck-fat-salted-caramel-soy-sauce-ice-cream-recipe.html

This is some serious ice cream.

Seriously.

Oatmeal

Leftover oatmeal, fried in bacon grease, drenched in Pure Michigan maple syrup.

It don't get no better than this.

More on Cod

One of my favorite anecdotes.

I go to Sendik's, in my opinion, the best of the local grocery store chains.

https://www.sendiks.com/stores/greenfield

Some high school kid is working the fish counter.

Me: Give me a piece of whitefish.

Kid: You want cod?

Me: Give me a filet of whitefish.

Kid: OK, which white fish do you want? Cod?

Me: Give me a filet of Lake Superior Whitefish.

Kid looks down at fish case.

Kid: Oh, yeah, OK.

Cod

 Cod

I love me some cod.

Radish Greens

Radish greens sauteed with bacon and onion.

That was a good onion, it made my eyes water while chopping it.

Lake Superior Whitefish

 Lake Superior Whitefish.

Tastes so fresh, it is like I just pulled it out of the water myself.
