Old Fashioned Sour Cream Drops
Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
Mix together:
1/2 cup soft shortening
1 1/2 cup sugar
2 eggs
Stir in:
1 cup thick sour cream
1 teaspoon vanilla
Sift together and stir in:
2 3/4 cup sifted flour
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
Chill at least one hour.
Drop rounded teaspoons about 2 inches apart on un-greased cookie sheet.
400 degrees at 8-10 minutes, or until delicately browned.

Have you ever substituted butter for shortening?
ReplyDeleteAnd if these are drop cookies, why does the dough need to chill for an hour?
I only made these a couples of times, and long ago.
ReplyDeleteIt would be interesting to substitute butter for shortening. I do know from prior experience that for some chocolate chip cookies, the right texture depends on shortening instead of butter.
Your Mom says that chilling improves the flavor, but maybe letting them sit at room temperature would likewise improve the flavor.
